I had a visitor, I showed her everything Calgary

My sweet friend sacredlotus (Nicolle) from Portland came to visit me in Calgary this past week.  My goal was to show her as much of the best things as I could about the city in our short time together. I loaned her a cruiser bike and together we rode the city.

In one week we visited all of my favorite coffee shops – Deville Coffee, Phil & Sebastion, Kawa and Beano.  (Will and Kate drove past us as we drank coffee at Deville)

We drank and ate a bit too much at the ship ; we had a late greasy breakfast at the galaxy ; and a fine Mexican dinner at El Sombrero on a whim.

We attended the rodeo at the Calgary Stampede one beautiful afternoon and followed it up with a little stroll through the midway and a gentle ride above it all on the chair lift.

One morning we rode downtown and took the lift up to the top of the Calgary Tower. People, that tower is 1228 metres above sea level!, with a glass observation deck to really freak out your visitors.

I had hoped to take my friend hiking but the weather was not good on the planned day, so I took her to the most beautiful place in Canada , Moraine Lake.  It was snowing.  Freezing temperatures and an unholy wind couldn’t stop us though.  We laughed so hard.  And of course, we had the lake to ourselves.

I also took sacredlotus bowling in Cochrane, to a community Stampede party in Renfrew and naturally out to the Ranch .  We had a fabulous afternoon shooting polaroids for “roid week” while we were there.  And Nicolle, my mom and myself enjoyed a nice steak dinner that we prepared.

I think I was successful in my attempts to make Nicolle fall in love with Calgary.  She is already talking about her next visit.  Calgary is awesome.

I miss you already Nicolle!
